Join our intergenerational conversation about life in LA County and beyond. Teens will interview elders and each other, and share experiences. A book will be published documenting the conversations. For teens, and elders aged 60 and up.

The Generations Project facilitates intergenerational connections and learning about Los Angeles County community history. LA County Library, in collaboration with our Cultural Resource Centers, will host events for teens and elders to meet and share stories from their lives in Los Angeles County and beyond. These conversations will be recorded and transcribed for a book documenting the experiences and wisdom of these generations. This book will be published by UCLA’s Radical Librarianship Institute and added to the Library's permanent collection!

Do you have a story you'd like to share? Are you curious about the history and cultures of your community? Register for this event and complete our interest form: bit.ly/thegenerationsproject.

Teens who sign-up to be interviewers can receive volunteer service credits. Refreshments provided.

About the branch

Rosemead Library traces its history back to the establishment of the Savannah Branch of the Los Angeles County Free Public Library in June, 1916.

The library originally occupied one room of the Savannah School, located on the corner of Valley Blvd. and Rio Hondo Avenue.

Over the years the library has burned down twice (in 1921 and 1927) and has relocated several times, spending over 30 years located in a renovated school building at 4114 Rosemead Blvd.

In May, 1967 the Rosemead Library moved to its current location, at 8800 Valley Blvd., next door to the Rosemead City Hall Building.

On May 31, 2011, Rosemead Library reopened after being refurbished. The refurbishment included new furniture and carpet, a new teen and children's area, additional public computers, and a new lounge area. The Asian Pacific Resource Center also moved to the Rosemead Library.
