If you're a book lover, you've likely read something, fiction or non-fiction, classic or contemporary, that has left its mark on you. Now's your chance to express your appreciation to the author with an essay in the form of a letter.

In this letter, you'll describe how the author's work has altered your worldview or personal life. Who knows - the author may even read it! Don't miss out on the opportunity. Three (3) winners will be chosen and will each be awarded $300.

Pick up an entry form at Diamond Bar Library or download a form here. You can submit the completed entry form and essay by dropping it off or mailing it to Diamond Bar Library. 

The deadline for submission is April 6, 2024. Winners will be announced on April 27, 2024.

*  Open to students ages 13-18
*  Entries must be 1,000 words or less
*  Must be mailed or dropped off
    at Diamond Bar Library
*  All entries become the property
    of LA County Library
*  A completed entry form must
     accompany all essay submissions

About the branch

Originally opened in 1977, the Diamond Bar Library has long provided valuable services to both residents and visitors.

The Diamond Bar Library at 1061 Grand Avenue was rededicated on August 15, 1998 after renovations made possible by the City of Diamond Bar Redevelopment Agency, the County of Los Angeles, and the Diamond Bar Friends of the Library.

On July 28, 2012, the Diamond Bar Library celebrated the grand opening of the new location at 21800 Copley Drive. The new 18, 245 square foot library is located on the 1st floor of the City Hall building.
