Huntington Park Library - Meeting Room

Teens and adults, you're invited to our intergenerational conversations where we explore various topics that affect our local and global communities today.

Find out what other generations think and how we can all come together to talk and listen to different views and opinions. This month's topic will focus on hair discrimination in Native and African American cultures as well as the movement to remove these biases from school and work. We aim to provide a space for healthy and respectful discussions. You'll also get the chance to sew your own hair accessory! All supplies provided.

This program is part of the Teen Culture Club series.

Parents and Guardians: Please be aware that refreshments will be served at this program. A list of ingredients will be available.

For ages 13 and up.

About the branch

Proudly serving the residents of the vibrant City of Huntington Park and neighboring areas, the Huntington Park Library was founded in 1913 and originally housed in the City Hall.

As the library continued to grow, it moved to larger locations in 1924 and 1931. The present library building in the Civic Center was dedicated in 1970.

A significant sculpture designed by artist Tom Van Sant, "Flight Form," was also dedicated in 1970 and is suspended from the second floor ceiling.

An active Friends of the Library group was formed in 1996 to promote and support Library services to the community.
