Join us for a book discussion of Swim Home to the Vanished by Brendan Shay Basham.

Described as a "lush and fantastic journey" full of "melancholic brilliance and unromantic magic" by author Tommy Orange, this magical realism novel follows a small-town line cook grieving the loss of his little brother. He moves into a mysterious fishing town and is caught in a power struggle. Can he overcome his grief and navigate through the intrigue of a new town? Find out by picking up a copy of Swim Home to the Vanished.

Copies of the book are available for checkout at the American Indian Resource Center and may also be downloaded as an eBook or audiobook at LACountyLibrary.org

Light refreshments will be provided.

For ages 18 and up.

About the branch

Proudly serving the residents of the vibrant City of Huntington Park and neighboring areas, the Huntington Park Library was founded in 1913 and originally housed in the City Hall.

As the library continued to grow, it moved to larger locations in 1924 and 1931. The present library building in the Civic Center was dedicated in 1970.

A significant sculpture designed by artist Tom Van Sant, "Flight Form," was also dedicated in 1970 and is suspended from the second floor ceiling.

An active Friends of the Library group was formed in 1996 to promote and support Library services to the community.
