Whether you're new to Wikipedia or an experienced editor, please join WikiLA in making culture and knowledge free for all at an edit-a-thon focused on ocean life and LA's connection to the sea. For adults.

Wikipedia is an incredibly popular resource with all editing done by volunteer editors. Many articles without global interest remain incomplete, inaccurate, or even nonexistent! Your contributions will be the first, and potentially only, piece of information people see on a given topic. No experience necessary. Tutorials will be provided for Wikipedia newcomers. Experienced editors will be providing help with editing throughout the event. Please bring a laptop if you are able; a limited number will be provided.

Take advantage of resources at the Manhattan Beach Library and help Wikipedia make the internet a better place! Refreshments provided by the Friends of the Manhattan Beach Library.

Attendance is limited, and advance registration is required. Please register every individual in your party. We cannot guarantee availability for any unregistered attendees. To sign up, see library staff, or register online at Visit.LACountyLibrary.org/Events and filter by location or event date.

About the branch

Manhattan Beach Library was started as a subscription library in 1910 by the Neptunian Women's Club of Manhattan Beach.

The library became part of LA County Library in January 1915, making it one of the oldest continuing libraries in the county system. The library moved into a separate building in 1957 and to its current location in 1975. In 2013, construction began on a new more modern building that would meet the needs of the 35,000 residents in the 3.87 square mile community.

On May 1, 2015 the new 21,500 square foot building designed by architectural firm Johnson Favaro opened. It features a two-story modern design with panoramic ocean views, an interactive children's exhibit, fireplace, automated materials handling system, and self-check machines
