The National Weather Service has issued an extreme heat warning from Tuesday, July 14 through Thursday, July 16. While all LA County Libraries offer a break from the heat during normal hours, many locations have been activated as Cooling Centers with extended hours.
LA County Department of Public Health is partnering with LA County Library to provide FREE School Readiness Vaccines for Kids and COVID-19 Vaccines for all ages. Health insurance is not required but will be requested if insured.
Make an appointment online at your preferred library location to avoid longer wait times. Appointments are available on myturn.ca.gov. Search by zip code.
*Vaccine clinics are open for walk-ins. Vaccines available while supplies last. Vaccine brands are subject to availability, and we are unable to guarantee them at this time.
For more info on vaccines, please visit the vaccine info page.
Important information for minors being vaccinated at a site run by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health:
The library was built by the Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors in 1976 to serve the Marina clientele. The William R. Pagen Nautical Wing and the Greg and Mimi Wenger Community Room were added in 1999 through the efforts of the Marina Foundation, the Board of Supervisors and the County of Los Angeles Public Library.
The Marina del Rey Library was renamed the Lloyd Taber-Marina del Rey Library by the Board of Supervisors in recognition of the main donor to the project. Since the Marina is a small craft harbor used for recreational purposes, the Lloyd Taber-Marina del Rey Library has developed a Nautical Collection to serve the informational needs and interests of small boaters.
