This program will feature the unveiling of the community ofrenda. Between October 1 and October 19, customers are welcome to honor their departed loved ones by sharing a copy of their photograph to be placed on the altar. Customers are also welcome to share stories of their loved written on a small card.

This program is part of the La Mirada Celebrates! series. Cultural and holiday celebrations bind families, neighborhoods, and communities together. Fall includes some of the most important cultural holidays, including the Hispanic holiday Día de los Muertos. Let's celebrate all season with food, art, dance, and song!

This project was made possible with support from California Humanities, a non-profit partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Visit www.calhum.org.

About the branch

La Mirada Library was established in 1915 in a one-room schoolhouse that belonged to the Norwalk School District. It soon received supplemental service from the Los Angeles County Library.

From 1958 to 1971 the library was housed in a leased storefront in the La Mirada Business Center. The present library building was dedicated on July 1, 1971, in the La Mirada Civic Center.
