The National Weather Service has issued an extreme heat warning from Tuesday, July 14 through Thursday, July 16. While all LA County Libraries offer a break from the heat during normal hours, many locations have been activated as Cooling Centers with extended hours.
A musical and visual lecture on the muralist Diego Rivera's illustrations for the Mayan-Quiché culture's great book of creation, the Popol Vuh
Join us as educator, musician and author Dr. Gloria Arjona delves into the ancient Mayan book, Popol Vuh, through a series of stunning watercolors created by Diego Rivera. We will explore the marvel of this artistic rendition of the most important Mayan-Quiché book, and learn about their cosmogony through the lenses of Diego Rivera.
This presentation will be enhanced by songs in Mayan, Nahuatl, and Spanish.
