Join us as we dissect owl pellets and attempt to reconstruct the skeletons of the owl's last few meals. Pellets are limited and you may end up working with a partner, so bring a friend! For ages 13 – 18.

Teens, did you know that owls usually swallow their food whole? After swallowing its prey, an owl's body is only able to digest the edible parts of its food. All of the indigestible parts (bones, feathers, shells, scales, teeth, etc.) will form into a pellet, which the owl will later regurgitate, or spit up, through its mouth.

About the branch

Founded in 1913 as the second branch of the Los Angeles County Free Library, the San Dimas Library was originally located in the back of Fairbank's Drug Store. Subsequently, it moved to a storefront location on Bonita Avenue. The present building, located in the San Dimas Civic Center, was dedicated in 1971.
