Join us for a lecture on the Kizh presented by Mike Lemos who is a dedicated advocate for the Kizh language and culture. As a Council member for the past two years, he has been actively working to preserve and promote this unique heritage.

Growing up immersed in Kizh culture, his formal study of the written language began three years ago, further deepening his understanding of this rich tradition. In his presentation, he is looking forward to explaining the surrounding villages, mission period, Kizh Culture and language.

About the branch

Proudly serving the residents of the vibrant City of Huntington Park and neighboring areas, the Huntington Park Library was founded in 1913 and originally housed in the City Hall.

As the library continued to grow, it moved to larger locations in 1924 and 1931. The present library building in the Civic Center was dedicated in 1970.

A significant sculpture designed by artist Tom Van Sant, "Flight Form," was also dedicated in 1970 and is suspended from the second floor ceiling.

An active Friends of the Library group was formed in 1996 to promote and support Library services to the community.
