Let’s get ready for school! Enjoy books, songs, rhymes, and movement while learning school readiness skills and having fun. For ages 2 - 5 with their parent or caregiver.

This program is part of Smart Start at the Library, LA County Library's collection of programs and services for early learners ages 0 - 5 and their caregivers.

Attendance is limited, and advance registration is required. Please register every individual in your party, including kids. This will be used to save your spots in the program. We cannot guarantee availability for any unregistered attendees.

About the branch

On February 22, 1973, the City of Lakewood, in cooperation with the County of Los Angeles Public Library, opened the George Nye, Jr. Library.

The library is named for Lakewood Mayor George H. Nye, Jr. who died while serving in office in May 1971.

The library is the second in the city and serves the population of the eastern area of the city which includes eight elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school.

An active Friends of the Library group was formed in 1972 and supports both Lakewood libraries - George Nye, Jr. and Angelo M. Iacoboni.

Drop in any time and join us for an afternoon of crafting. We will provide crafting materials to create and learn about Japanese Chigiri-e to celebrate Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander Month! For children ages 5 - 12

Celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month! Inspired by the beautiful handmade lei created and worn by Native Hawaiians, use a braiding technique to make a colorful ribbon lei. For teens ages 12 - 17.
