Join us for movie night at Lloyd Taber- Marina del Rey Library! From a child prodigy to the "Boogie-Woogie Queen," Mary Loud Williams was a pioneering Jazz composer who also was a mentor for some of the greatest musicians in history. Yet beyond the world of her piano playing, Williams navigated a world dominated by men, a society that was racially segregated, and the challenges of being an ambitious artist who defied conventions and grappled with the pressures of fame. The film is not rated. Please be aware that refreshments will be served. About the branch

The library was built by the Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors in 1976 to serve the Marina clientele. The William R. Pagen Nautical Wing and the Greg and Mimi Wenger Community Room were added in 1999 through the efforts of the Marina Foundation, the Board of Supervisors and the County of Los Angeles Public Library.

The Marina del Rey Library was renamed the Lloyd Taber-Marina del Rey Library by the Board of Supervisors in recognition of the main donor to the project. Since the Marina is a small craft harbor used for recreational purposes, the Lloyd Taber-Marina del Rey Library has developed a Nautical Collection to serve the informational needs and interests of small boaters.
