The film focuses on the World War II experiences of Desmond Doss, an American pacifist combat medic who, as a Seventh-day Adventist Christian, refused to carry or use a weapon or firearm of any kind.
However, Doss became the first conscientious objector to be awarded the Medal of Honor, for service above and beyond the call of duty during the Battle of Okinawa. He saved 75 lives in one battle. This true
story film got 7 Oscars nomination and won 2 Oscars and many other awards. Book title: Bloody Okinawa by Joseph Wheelan, 2020 will be displayed during this film showing.

About the branch

Established in 1938 as the Keystone Branch, the library merged with the Carson Branch in 1959. The present building was opened in 1972 and serves 19.24 square miles.
