The National Weather Service has issued an extreme heat warning from Tuesday, July 14 through Thursday, July 16. While all LA County Libraries offer a break from the heat during normal hours, many locations have been activated as Cooling Centers with extended hours.
United Mental Health Promoters conduct workshops that tackle a range of mental health topics to help Angelenos understand and manage their mental health. For adults.
This program is held in partnership with the LA County Department of Mental Health. The Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health Promoters Program aims to reduce stigma associated with mental illness among culturally underserved communities in Los Angeles County by increasing awareness about mental health issues, removing barriers, and improving timely access to culturally and linguistically appropriate resources.

Friendly El Monte, the End of the Santa Fe Trail, was incorporated in 1912. The city was once home to Gay's Lion Farm during the 1930s and famous for the roaring lion on MGM's logo.
The El Monte Library was founded in 1890, and joined the Los Angeles County Public Library in 1913. It has been at its present location since 1967.
