The National Weather Service has issued an extreme heat warning from Tuesday, July 14 through Thursday, July 16. While all LA County Libraries offer a break from the heat during normal hours, many locations have been activated as Cooling Centers with extended hours.
Día de los Niños/Día de los Libros (Children's Day/Book Day) is a day for celebrating children, families, and reading! What better way to celebrate than to stop by your local library. For children ages 3 - 17.
There will be opportunities to craft, read, and play. Crafts, snacks,* and giveaways will be available for children and teens throughout the day.
El Día de los niños/Día de los libros es un día para celebrar a los niños, las familias y la lectura. Qué mejor manera de celebrarlo que pasar por tu biblioteca local para hacer manualidades, leer y jugar. Habrá manualidades, bocadillos* y premios para niños y adolescentes. Para niños de 5 a 17años. *Se servirán bocadillos. Habrá una lista de ingredientes disponible.

Hawaiian Gardens Library was founded in 1974 with a bookmobile serving the community. The next site for the library was at 12134 Tilbury Street (the former city hall); it served the community from 1979 until December 1987.
On January 19, 1988, the library was relocated to a 2,000 square foot building in the Hawaiian Gardens Town Center. The official dedication was held on March 9, 1988.
In 1989, the facility was expanded to 4,000 square feet. An open house, with City and County dignitaries attending, was held on October 18, 1989.
The Hawaiian Gardens Library moved to a new 5,585 square foot building that is shared with the City of Hawaiian Gardens Public Safety Center at 11940 Carson Street in December 2008.
