In this five-class workshop, writer and comedian Christian Cintron will teach you the secrets of joke writing and comedy performance and how to use those to stand up for yourself, speak your truth, and rewrite your story. For adults.

Have people always told you you’re funny? Are you painfully shy and dying for a way to be more outgoing? Are you chock full of stress and looking for an outlet? Are you a writer who is curious about a new way to express yourself? Sharing your innermost thoughts in front of strangers can be the scariest thing to do, but this class can give you the power and confidence to conquer that fear. Stand-up comedy can provide the tools for managing discomfort, speaking about controversial and tense topics, and distilling your truth. In this five-class workshop, writer and comedian Christian Cintron will teach you the secrets of joke writing and comedy performance and how to use those to stand up for yourself, speak your truth, and rewrite your story. Sponsored by the Friends of the West Hollywood Library.

This is the second of a five-program series that will be held on June 7, 14, 21, 28, and July 12. Each program date has its own event page. Please register individually for all of the dates you are able to attend. Students are encouraged to attend all classes, but anyone can participate. Performance preference will go to students who attend each class.

Christian Cintron is a jack-of-all-trades, master of fun. He is a writer, comedian, actor, and spiritualist. Christian was recently awarded the West Hollywood Artist Grant and starred in the comedy special Laugh Proud available on Tubi and Amazon Prime. He created Stand Up 4 Your Power, a class that uses stand-up comedy as a tool for speaking your truth, negotiating conflict, and energy management. Christian teaches stand-up comedy at LA City College’s Rodney Dangerfield Institute which is committed to making comedy education accessible. His writing appeared in Backstage, Hollywood.com, Queerty, The Authentic Gay, and Ranker, to name a few. Christian is a graduate of Vassar College, The Second City: Hollywood, and iO West.
