In-Person Program

Join us for a session of play, curiosity, and creativity! Help children learn problem solving skills through pretend play and enjoy a unique family bonding experience. For kids ages 0 - 36 months and caregivers.

Please join us after Play and Explore! for an opportunity to chat with a Family Community Specialist from the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program.

This program is part of Smart Start at the Library, LA County Library's collection of programs and services for early learners ages 0 – 5 and their caregivers.

About the branch

On February 22, 1973, the City of Lakewood, in cooperation with the County of Los Angeles Public Library, opened the George Nye, Jr. Library.

The library is named for Lakewood Mayor George H. Nye, Jr. who died while serving in office in May 1971.

The library is the second in the city and serves the population of the eastern area of the city which includes eight elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school.

An active Friends of the Library group was formed in 1972 and supports both Lakewood libraries - George Nye, Jr. and Angelo M. Iacoboni.
