Join LA County Librarian, Skye Patrick, Manhattan Beach Library, and the City of Manhattan Beach as we host our spring Speaker Series! On Saturday, May 17 at 11am, Skye will be sitting down with Chef Roy Choi to discuss his journey as a chef, entrepreneur, award winning host, cultural pioneer, and author.
Food, culture, and community are deeply intertwined in Roy's work. Whether he's blending the flavors of South Korea and Southern California, uplifting the culinary magic of street chefs, exploring the role of gentrification in communities, or sharing his favorite recipes, Roy's voice and artistry reveal to us the ways that we are all connected and all capable of contributing something great (and delicious!) to our communities.
Join us for a talk and Q&A with Roy, followed by a book signing and reception with his award-winning Kogi Korean BBQ truck. The first 500 attendees to check in on the day of the event will receive a free taco! A vegetarian option will be available.
This event will be held at the Mira Costa High School Auditorium at 1401 Artesia Blvd, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266.
Books will be available for purchase as preorders and at the event from {pages} a bookstore. If you'd like to preorder and pick up your copy at the event on May 17, please make a note in the "Customer Comments" section when completing your purchase.
