Learn about the history of manga as well as creating your own manga character.

Sunny introduces his characters–
Kappa, Lucky Cat, Daruma, and Kokeshi, sharing their origins and the
steps he took to design them for his books. He will show and explain
the very earliest manga, beginning from the Japanese Heian Period more than 500 years ago, to Hokusai, and more.

About the branch

La Verne Library was originally established as the "Traveling Library" on October 1, 1914, when the Lordsburg Library Board of Trustees joined the Los Angeles County Library system. After numerous moves to ever larger facilities, the La Verne Library moved to its current location at 3640 D Street on July 29, 1985.
