Thursday, September 18
6:00pm - 7:00pm

Join LA County Librarian, Skye Patrick, in conversation with Casey Johnston, author of A Physical Education, a memoir about strong bodies, strong hearts, and strong minds.

Casey will be joining us to discuss her own journey of discovery and growth, from someone obsessed with shrinking her body through endless dieting and cardio, to a woman who embraced strength training as a means of building confidence, resilience, and health. We'll be discussing the short and long term benefits of building a stronger body and breaking down myths around exercise and weight lifting.

Casey Johnston is an American writer and editor. She has written the fitness advice column “Ask a Swole Woman” for multiple outlets since 2016 and a newsletter about weightlifting, She’s a Beast, since 2021. Her book, A Physical Education, was published in 2025.
