Join us to make a bird pin inspired by a popular craft among incarcerated Japanese Americans during World War II.

Wooden bird pins were carved by hand, painted, and worn as brooches or pins that were small and powerful expressions of beauty and individuality.

For adults

This program is part of One Book, One Coast which brings together library systems across California, Washington State, and Oregon for a shared community reading program that celebrates literacy, learning, community, and civil discourse.

About the branch

The library, originally founded in 1929 as the Stephenson Library, moved into its present location in 1972 and was rededicated as El Camino Real Library in 1975. The library was rededicated again in November 2014 after a renovation and expansion that added a meeting room, teen area, and outdoor reading patio. The library is located on the historic El Camino Real.
