This conversation will feature an in-depth exploration of the ways that young Black gay men in Los Angeles come together to learn how to navigate racial and sexual stigma in everyday interactions.

Terrell J.A. Winder is Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. An urban ethnographer, Winder's research areas include race & ethnicity, sexuality & sexual health, qualitative research methods, and education. Winder's research has been published in AIDS Patient Care & STDs, the Journal of Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities, and the Journal of Medical Internet Research. Dr. Winder received his B.A. in Comparative Ethnic Studies from Columbia University and his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Anthony Christian Ocampo is a queer Filipino American writer and sociologist from Los Angeles. is Professor of Sociology and Faculty Director of the Office of Ethnic Studies at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Dr. Ocampo is also the author of two books: Brown and Gay in LA: The Lives of Immigrant Sons and The Latinos of Asia: How Filipino Americans Break the Rules of Race. He earned his BA in Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity and MA in Modern Thought and Literature from Stanford University and his MA and PhD in Sociology from UCLA.
