Join LA County Librarian and Director, Dr. Skye Patrick, in conversation with musician Avie Sheck. Avie and his collaborator (and mom!) Uma blend contemporary western and traditional Indian musical styles to create a sound all their own.

In celebration of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, mother-son musician duo Avie and Uma will be sitting down with Skye to talk about their music, the intertwining of different cultures around one art form, and what it's like to create intergenerationally.

Avie Sheck is an artist/producer born in the Himalayas. He comes from a long line of classical Indian Musicians - his mother, Uma, being the one to pass on the gift of music. Recently, he and his mom made waves on the internet amassing over 1/2 million followers, millions of plays, and cosigns by the likes of SZA, Priyanka Chopra and System Of A Down for their Classical Indian & American Pop fusions.

Today, Avie creates from Los Angeles, CA, as a full time artist, songwriter, and producer. Avie & Uma are touring domestically and internationally, and they are excited to release more fusion as they blend sounds from the East and West. You can learn more about Avie Sheck and Uma at Avie On Earth or their YouTube page
