In celebration of Pride Month, please join us to learn about the life of artist Ellsworth Kelly and create your own work of art inspired by his work. For adults 18+

This activity is inspired from Kelly’s use of grid-like compositions in his 1951 works, “Colors for a Large Wall”, “Spectrum Colors Arranged by Chance II,” and “Spectrum Colors Arranged by Chance IX.” 

All materials will be provided.

About the branch

On February 22, 1973, the City of Lakewood, in cooperation with the County of Los Angeles Public Library, opened the George Nye, Jr. Library.

The library is named for Lakewood Mayor George H. Nye, Jr. who died while serving in office in May 1971.

The library is the second in the city and serves the population of the eastern area of the city which includes eight elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school.

An active Friends of the Library group was formed in 1972 and supports both Lakewood libraries - George Nye, Jr. and Angelo M. Iacoboni.
