The Malibu Library Speaker Series presents television host Joan Lunden at Malibu City Hall on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 4 pm.
Joan Lunden is an award-winning journalist, bestselling author, television host, and motivational speaker. For nearly two decades she greeted viewers on "Good Morning America," making her the longest-running female host on early morning television.
An ardent health and senior advocate, she has testified before the FDA for mandatory mammogram reporting and before the Congressional House Ways and Means Committee in support of expanding the Family and Medical Leave Act. She was a visiting professor at Lehigh University’s College of Health, where she taught Population Health and the Media.
Joan's book, Why Did I Come into This Room: A Candid Conversation About Aging, became a New York Times bestseller. Following her breast cancer diagnosis she chronicled her journey in Had I Known: A Memoir of Survival. In 2026, Joan released a memoir, Joan: Life Beyond the Script, pulling back the curtain on the defining moments that shaped her extraordinary life — from breaking barriers on national television to reshaping motherhood, survivorship, and aging on her own terms.
This event takes place at Malibu City Hall, 23825 Stuart Ranch Road, Malibu. Malibu Village Books will sell copies of Joan: Life Beyond the Script, and a signing will follow the talk.
RSVPs required. Please note this event begins at 4 pm!
