Join us for a movie extravaganza on the lawn! We will be viewing the live-action How to Train Your Dragon film in this special citywide event. This film is rated PG. For ages 8+.

Join us for an evening of fun for all! Participate in activities and photo ops on the lawn before the movie begins. The live-action How to Train Your Dragon film will begin at 8pm on the Civic Center lawn. Attendees are encouraged to bring picnic blankets or beach chairs.

This movie is rated PG.

This citywide movie event is in partnership with the City of Lawndale, Lawndale Parks, Recreation and Social Services Commission, Lawndale Youth Advisory Committee and Lawndale Friends of the Library.

About the branch

The first library in Lawndale - one of the earliest branches of the County of Los Angeles Public Library - opened December 26, 1913 at the corner of Railroad Ave. and Market St. (now Hawthorne Blvd. and 147th St.).

The current Lawndale Library opened to great fanfare March 18, 2009 after 52 years of serving the community in a 3500 sq. ft. building next door.

The new building features a glass artwork, Subdivisions, by Anne Marie Karlsen.
