Come to the library to learn all about Juneteenth, how we honor the people that were affected and why it is important.  Afterwards you will create wearable art in the form of buttons that you make yourself.

Juneteenth is a holiday, celebrated annually on June 19, that remembers the day in 1865 when word came to enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, that they were free — two years after President Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863.

About the branch

The library was founded in 1913 and housed in the Woodcrest School. It moved to various locations in the community until the present location was opened in 1967.
