Learn about the history of LGBTQ+ characters and themes in comics, and some of the most influential modern creators from the LGBTQ+ community, and the future of gender-expansive characters and creators in the comic book industry. For adults.

The lecture will discuss the history of LGBTQ+ characters and themes in comics going back to the Golden & Silver Age of American comics. The lecture will also discuss the roles these characters and stories arcs play in Japanese Manga, beginning with the seminal works of Hagio Moto to today’s immensely popular “B&L” genre. Additionally, the presentation will detail some of the most influential modern creators from the LGBTQ+ community and highlight popular new works such as “Son of Krypton.” Finally, the lecture will touch on the current pushback against the LGBTQ+ community and the future of gender expansive characters and creators in the comic book industry. For adults.
