Did you know that the Lawndale Library has a garden? Spend a morning meeting new people and taking care of Lawndale's Ocean Friendly Garden. Help maintain our beautiful garden that is filled with drought tolerant plants.
Attendance is limited, and advance registration is required. Please register every individual in your party, including kids. This will be used to save your spots in the program. We cannot guarantee availability for any unregistered attendees.
This event is held in-person. LA County Public Health strongly encourages masks and physical distancing indoors regardless of vaccination status. The first library in Lawndale - one of the earliest branches of the County of Los Angeles Public Library - opened December 26, 1913 at the corner of Railroad Ave. and Market St. (now Hawthorne Blvd. and 147th St.).
The current Lawndale Library opened to great fanfare March 18, 2009 after 52 years of serving the community in a 3500 sq. ft. building next door.
The new building features a glass artwork, Subdivisions, by Anne Marie Karlsen.
