Embracing Black Hair and Wellness

In-Person Program

Learn about Black history and the Natural Hair Movement. Join the discussion with library staff on how to have confidence in yourself and your hair. A self-care and journaling activity will follow. For tweens and teens, ages 12 - 18.

Attendance is limited, and advance registration is required. Please register every individual in your party, including kids. This will be used to save your spots in the program. We cannot guarantee availability for any unregistered attendees. 

This event is held in-person. LA County Public Health strongly encourages masks and physical distancing indoors regardless of vaccination status. Masks will continue to be available for customers upon request. Please see the Guidelines for Attendees during the registration process for more information.

Program is held in partnership with the LA County Probation Department and in collaboration with LA County Library’s My Brother’s Keeper mentoring program. Program will be hosted by a Probation Outreach Librarian and feature an MBK Peer Advocate as a co-host and youth mentor.

This program is funded by the County of Los Angeles Probation Department through the Juvenile Justice Crime Prevention Act (JJCPA). JJCPA/Probation requires the collection of data on program participants including full name, date of birth, ethnicity, gender, zip code, and signature. Guardian consent is also required to participate.
