Herbie J Pilato is a writer, producer, director, actor, and singer/songwriter. His over 14 books about pop culture are considered some of the best of the genre, including biographies of Mary Tyler Moore and Bewitched star Elizabeth Montgomery, Glamour, Gidgets and the Girl Next Door, and The 12 Best Secrets of Christmas. He’s helped to pioneer the classic TV talk show format with the Amazon Prime hit series, Then Again with Herbie J Pilato. He’s worked on TV shows, films, and documentaries for NBCUniversal, Sony, Warner Bros., the Reelz Channel, Bravo, A&E, TLC, CNN, and more. He is the Founder and Executive Director of the Classic TV Preservation Society, a nonprofit dedicated to the positive social influence of classic TV. Herbie J’s upcoming books include Retro Active Television, biographies of Sean Connery and Diana Rigg, and a combined book about Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, and their most beloved films.

Caryn Richman is an acclaimed actress of the stage and screen, from Hollywood to Broadway. She played Sandy on Broadway in one of the original productions of Grease and had regular roles on TV daytime serials such as Texas and The Young and the Restless. She is best known to TV fans as Nora Brady, wife to Greg Brady on The Bradys, and her half-hour comedy series, The New Gidget, which is considered one of the last great traditional sitcoms in the history of television. She’s recently had a recurring role on The Potwins series starring Barry Bostwick and Kevin Sorbo and appeared in the Lifetime mini-series Keeping Up With The Joneses and Deceived By My Mother-in-Law. She will soon be seen in Ray Romano’s upcoming new movie Somewhere in Queens, and movies like Dressed For Love, Let It Lie, and Among the Willows. Caryn is also a dedicated advocate of various charitable causes, including animal rescue.

Eric Scott is an actor best-known role for his role as Ben Walton, which he first portrayed in the iconic television film The Homecoming: A Christmas Story. This led to the Emmy-award-winning TV series, The Waltons, and several TV-movie sequels. Prior to The Waltons, Eric began modeling and appearing in TV commercials for Mattel Hot Wheels, and GAF Talking Viewmaster with Henry Fonda. He also worked with Fred Astaire in The Over The Hill Gang Rides Again, Jonathan Winters in Norman Rockwells America, and Sammy Davis Jr. in The Klowns. Eric has also made countless guest-star appearances on other TV classics such as Bewitched, playing “Herbie,” in the benchmark episode, “Out of the Mouths of Babes”; Medical Center, as Danny in “The Corrupted”; two episodes of ABC’s famed After-School Specials with Melissa Sue Anderson and Rosanna Arquette, and an early episode of The Doris Day Show. After The Waltons, Eric continued to act in films such as The Loch Ness Horror, on TV’s The Fall Guy, and in TV commercials for Dominos Pizza and Dr. Pepper, among others. Today, Eric owns and operates Chase Messengers, a prestigious parcel delivery service, which is based in Encino, California.

About the branch

La Mirada Library was established in 1915 in a one-room schoolhouse that belonged to the Norwalk School District. It soon received supplemental service from the Los Angeles County Library.

From 1958 to 1971 the library was housed in a leased storefront in the La Mirada Business Center. The present library building was dedicated on July 1, 1971, in the La Mirada Civic Center.
