As we approach Juneteenth, let's learn about the importance of music in African American culture and traditions. For ages 6 - 12 with their caregiver.

Explore different African cultures, the ways music was used by enslaved people to communicate and connect, and how it became their melody of freedom. Then make your very own Djembe drum to carry on the celebration of Juneteenth.

About the branch

The library was founded in 1913 and housed in the Woodcrest School. It moved to various locations in the community until the present location was opened in 1967.
