The National Weather Service has issued an extreme heat warning from Tuesday, July 14 through Thursday, July 16. While all LA County Libraries offer a break from the heat during normal hours, many locations have been activated as Cooling Centers with extended hours.
Back by popular demand; join us as we explore the influence of hip-hop as it relates to art. Dragunfli Designz will provide you with a pre-drawn hip-hop themed canvas to enhance and/or discover your inner artist talent. Ages: Family
In my DJ Khalid voice, "ANOTHA 1!"
Dragunfli Designz will be providing a new set of hip-hop inspired pre-drawn canvases, and as the title says, no gin, just juice, which will be provided by Compton's very own Pucker Up Lemonade. Everything about this program is a good free time for families to enjoy together. An added bonus, both, Dragunfli Designz & Pucker Up Lemonade are Straight Outta Compton!
Attendance is limited, and advance registration is required. Please register every individual in your party, including kids. This will be used to save your spots in the program. We cannot guarantee availability for any unregistered attendees.
For in-person attendance, LA County Public Health strongly encourages masks and physical distancing indoors regardless of vaccination status. Masks will continue to be available for customers upon request. Please see the Guidelines for Attendees during the registration process for more information.
*This project was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Compton Library branch of the Los Angeles County Free library opened its doors in July of 1913, the 11th branch of today's LA County Library.
The library was located in a storefront building near Main and Tamarind Streets and was later moved to the Compton Union High School at 212 S Acacia Street.
In 1925 a separate building was erected in the City Hall Park at 123 W Almond Street, where it remained until 1974, when the current facility was dedicated at 240 W Compton Boulevard.
