In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, we will view various examples of amate folk art for inspiration and then create our own designs on amate paper. Adults 18 and over.

Amatl is the Nahuatl word for paper and amate is made from the bark of various trees. The use of amate paper predates colonization and was used to record not only historical events but everyday life as well. Many people in Mexico today continue the tradition of amate painting.

This event is held in-person. LA County Public Health strongly encourages masks and physical distancing indoors regardless of vaccination status. Masks will continue to be available for customers upon request.
