Let's read together! We'll take turns reading aloud, talk about the book, and make a fun art activity.

This is a monthly book club for children who are beginning to read, want to practice reading aloud, and improve their reading comprehension skills. Copies of the book will be available at the program. For readers ages 5 - 8.

This month, we'll read Owl Moon by Jane Yolen and then decorate a ceramic owl.

Attendance is limited and advance registration is requested. To register, ask library staff or register online at Visit.LACountyLibrary.org/Events and filter by location or event date.

This event is held in-person. LA County Public Health strongly encourages masks and physical distancing indoors regardless of vaccination status. Masks will continue to be available for customers upon request. Please see the Guidelines for Attendees during the registration process for more information.

About the branch

Hawaiian Gardens Library was founded in 1974 with a bookmobile serving the community. The next site for the library was at 12134 Tilbury Street (the former city hall); it served the community from 1979 until December 1987.

On January 19, 1988, the library was relocated to a 2,000 square foot building in the Hawaiian Gardens Town Center. The official dedication was held on March 9, 1988.

In 1989, the facility was expanded to 4,000 square feet. An open house, with City and County dignitaries attending, was held on October 18, 1989.

The Hawaiian Gardens Library moved to a new 5,585 square foot building that is shared with the City of Hawaiian Gardens Public Safety Center at 11940 Carson Street in December 2008.
