Join us for For Colored Girls, a film based on the choreopoem, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide by Ntozake Shange. In New York, a group of black women, most of whom live in the same Harlem apartment building, faces personal crises, heartbreak and other challenges. Crystal faces an unhappy existence as an abused lover. Jo is a successful magazine editor, but her husband has a secret double life. Juanita is a relationship counselor but cannot seem to get her love life in order. These three and others become bound together by their experiences. About the branch

The Black Resource Center (BRC) was established as a special service of LA County Library in 1978 to serve the informational and educational needs of African Americans and the larger population by supporting research and study on social, historical and cultural aspects unique to the African American experience. The Black Resource Center is located in A C Bilbrew Library.
