Join us as Dr. Gloria Arjona, accompanied by Javier Arjona, explores the origins of La Lotería and how it is traditionally played, incorporating music and offering a taste of the traditional gameplay. For ages 18 and up.

Known as “The Mexican Bingo,” La Lotería is a tradition passed on from generation to generation for many Mexican and Central American descendants. Its eye-catching and provocative images are frequently recreated by artists worldwide, and scholarly research on this topic is quickly growing.

About the branch

Bell Gardens Library first opened in August, 1938 at 5656 Live Oak St. As the City of Bell Gardens grew and expanded, so did the library.

On September 22, 1958 the library moved to 7515 Eastern Ave. (a store front location).

The library moved to its current location, 7110 S. Garfield Avenue, on May 7th, 1970. On July 21, 2007 the library had a Grand Re-Opening ceremony to celebrate a 6-month major refurbishment project.
