Blackout poetry, or redacted poetry, has been used by poets since the 18th century and is created when a poet covers someone else's text to reveal select words that create a new poem.  For teens ages 13 – 17.

Celebrate Teen Read Month and banned books by learning to create your own blackout poetry using pages from books that have historically been banned.

Co-sponsored by the Friends of the West Covina Library on behalf of Charter Oak Library. Parents & Guardians: Please be aware that refreshments will be served at this program. A list of ingredients will be available.

About the branch

The first building was a private residence of the librarian, Mrs. W. A. Jones. In 1930, the library moved and changed its name to the Ben Lomond Library. In July 1962, the Charter Oak Library moved to 20562 Arrow Highway.

After a tragic fire which destroyed much of the library and its collection, it was relocated in 1991 to its present location in the unincorporated area near the cities of Covina and Glendora.
