Enjoy a wacky magic show featuring tons of laughs, audience participation, and even a live rabbit! While you are in the library, sign up the whole family to participate in a summer of reading with our Summer Discovery Program!

Magic show is appropriate for children ages 5-12 with adult supervision. Reading program is for all ages!

Sign ups for the Summer Discovery Program will begin online and in-person on June 1.

About the branch

On February 22, 1973, the City of Lakewood, in cooperation with the County of Los Angeles Public Library, opened the George Nye, Jr. Library.

The library is named for Lakewood Mayor George H. Nye, Jr. who died while serving in office in May 1971.

The library is the second in the city and serves the population of the eastern area of the city which includes eight elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school.

An active Friends of the Library group was formed in 1972 and supports both Lakewood libraries - George Nye, Jr. and Angelo M. Iacoboni.
