Discover the art of nib calligraphy in this immersive 8-week course designed for beginners and enthusiasts alike. Elevate your handwriting or explore a new creative outlet! Registration is required. For adults.

Please note: this is an 8-week weekly program. Only sign up if you can commit to the weekly schedule. There are only 10 spots available. Please make sure you are able to attend before registering. 

Attendance is limited, and advance registration is required. This will be used to save your spots in the program. We cannot guarantee availability for any unregistered attendees. 

Whether you're looking to elevate your handwriting, create custom cards, or explore a new creative outlet, this program will guide you through the foundations of beautiful, hand-lettered script. Each week, you'll build skills in pen control, ink flow, letterform structure, and layout techniques. All necessary supplies—including nibs, holders, ink, and practice materials—are included, so you can focus entirely on your craft.

About the branch

Friendly El Monte, the End of the Santa Fe Trail, was incorporated in 1912. The city was once home to Gay's Lion Farm during the 1930s and famous for the roaring lion on MGM's logo.

The El Monte Library was founded in 1890, and joined the Los Angeles County Public Library in 1913. It has been at its present location since 1967.
