Join us for a book talk and exhibition exploring the work of one of Mexico’s best known comic artists, Gabriel Vargas, and a conversation with author Maira Mayola Benitez Carrillo’s about her book: Gabriel Vargas, Más Allá de los Burrón.

Visit the Chicano Resource Center as we explore the work of beloved Mexican cartoonist Gabriel Vargas Bernal. His comic strip La Familia Burrón has been considered one of the most important comic strips in Mexican culture. This event is curated by Maira Mayola Benítez Carrillo and José Miguel Alva Marquina and features an exhibit of Burrón’s work along with a discussion on the book, Gabriel Vargas, Más Allá de los Burrón by Maira Mayola Benítez Carrillo. 


Presented in partnership with the Mexican Cultural Institute of Los Angeles.

The Chicano Resource Center (CRC) was established in 1976 to serve the information needs of the Mexican-American (Chicano) community and to make information about the history and culture of this group available to the general public. The Chicano Resource Center is located in East Los Angeles Library.
