Conversatorios de las Artes: Margaret Garcia

Join us as we continue our series, Conversatorios de las Artes. This month we have the great pleasure to present a conversation with one of LA’s most important women artists Margaret Garcia. 

This month, in collaboration with the Mexican Cultural Institute of Los Angeles, our series of art talks continues with a very special guest, Margaret Garcia. Garcia has been recognized as one of Los Angeles’ most influential women artists. Her work consists of oil paintings and pastels saturated with an expressive palette; flat compositional space firmly rooted in the tradition of Mexican Folk art. She started her career as a muralist and was involved with the murals that celebrated the 1984 Olympics. Her paintings are in the collections of the Cheech; LACMA; the Laguna Art Museum among many others.
