This month, for our next installment of Conversatorios de las Artes, the Mexican Cultural Institute of Los Angeles brings us a conversation with Professor Denise Lugo on Con Safos magazine. The magazine was a leading Chicano literary journal that emerged in the late 1960's to the 1970's in the East Los Angeles barrio, as a Chicano first voice to address and document "El Movimiento." It was a publication where Chicanos could tell their own stories, represent their own culture, and address political and social issues from within the barrio.

The Chicano Resource Center (CRC) was established in 1976 to serve the information needs of the Mexican-American (Chicano) community and to make information about the history and culture of this group available to the general public. The Chicano Resource Center is located in East Los Angeles Library.
